This year
the Swedish and Danish Sections both celebrate their 30-year
Anniversaries.
Our Danish friends decided to run their Jubilee rally on the beautiful
island of Bornholm, we therefore choose to have our Jubilee the days
preceding the Danish rally and right at the ferry-port to Bornholm: the
City of Ystad - a small ancient town located in the famous and
beautiful area of Österlen, renowned for its many castles and
historical places.
Ystad is about 70 km south-east from the Öresund Bridge. In fact, we
will be touring old Danish territory. The County of Skåne (Scania) was
part of Denmark very long ago.
In the 14th century Scania was ravaged by wars between Sweden and
Denmark. In the year 1332 Scania became Swedish territory, taken back by
Denmark in 1360. Many historical places have Danish connections from
these ages.
From 1658 Scania has belonged to Sweden in spite of Danish efforts to
recapture the territory in 1676 and 1710. Do not worry, today Danes and
Swedes are very friendly with each other.
We invite
all RREC members and especially participants going to Bornholm to join
our rally.
The rally starts on Monday p.m. May 10th and ends with breakfast
Thursday morning May 13th. The Bornholm ferry terminal is a couple of
minutes away from our hotel! You may join the whole or part of the
program, which includes the following:
Monday
10 May.
Check in from 15.00 hrs. Dinner
Tuesday 11 May.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Swedish AGM at 16.30 hrs.
Wednesday 12 May.
Breakfast, lunch and 18.30 hrs Gala-Jubilee-dinner - entertainment
and dance (dark suite - or tuxedo if you like).
Thursday 13 May.
Breakfast. There will be a program for those leaving with the late
ferry.
If you
join Tuesday or Wednesday, the prices in the Entry-form include dinner
from the day of arrival. You are welcome to join earlier in the day,
but then lunch is extra. The rally will start 09.30 each day.
All entry
fees and guided tours are included, wine and spirits are extra. Details
of the program will be mailed to all participants in good time before
the start.
Our
headquarter is the classic, fashionable Hotel Ystad Saltsjöbad-
www.ysb.se - located right on the Baltic shore.
The rally will take you on beautiful roads of Österlen, visiting or
passing by famous castles like Christenehof, Marsvinsholm,
Övedskloster and Glimmingehus. A visit to Autoseum,
a new venture with a great collection of historic cars is on the agenda.
We will also visit the "Nordic Stonehenge" Ale Stenar and
Backåkra, the beautiful home of legendary Dag Hammarskjöld
(UN Secretary General from 1953 till 1961, killed when his aircraft was
shot down in Congo).
Ystad is also the hometown of author Henning Mankel´s detective
"Inspector Wallander". You will recognise streets and houses from
the movies when we have a guided Wallander-tour of the city.
